Kieran Preston

Director General of Metro

Kieran Preston - Director General of Metro. Kieran has been been Director General of Metro (West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive) since 1993 and was Chair of pteg between 2001 and 2005. In 2006, Kieran was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours List.

Metro is responsible for the co-ordination of public transport provision across West Yorkshire. In addition to its strategic role, responsibilities include specification and funding of local rail services, subsidising necessary bus services which are not commercially provided, provision of passenger facilities and information and promotion of public transport. Metro also holds a number of quality awards, including Investors in People, Beacon Status and Chartermark.

Kieran's previous post was Director of Administration at Leeds City Council responsible for the Department of Administration and co-ordination of Direct Service Organisations within the Council.

Kieran has a degree in Business Administration, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport.
