Ron Culley

Before joining SPT, Ron Culley was the Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, the largest of the local enterprise companies within Scottish Enterprise where he was recognised as a leading authority on economic regeneration and urban development.

Six years prior to that appointment, Ron was Chief Executive of the local development company, Govan Initiative Ltd, which was voted 'Business of the Year' in 1998 by the Quality Scotland foundation in the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) sector. In 1999 the European Quality Foundation ranked Govan Initiative in the top five SME businesses in Europe.

As Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, the organisation responsible for the economic regeneration of Scotland's largest city, Ron has focussed successfully upon customer primacy, partnership, the pursuit of excellence and delivering results.

In April 2006 Ron took up office as the first Chief Executive of the West of Scotland’s Regional Transport Authority – SPT. Previously Strathclyde Passenger Transport – it’s now called Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, to reflect the importance of working collaboration with local authorities and other parties in the West of Scotland.

Ron's other responsibilities outwith SPT include membership of the Police Advisory Board. He is a Governor of the Scottish Police College at Tulliallen and was for some time a Board Member of Quality Scotland. Ron is also on the Board of the Wise Group.
