Light Rail Inquiry

An inquiry by the All Party Parliamentary Light Rail Group and pteg

In the Autumn of 2009, the All Party Parliamentary Light Rail Group (APPLRG) and pteg set up an inquiry to consider progress in developing modern trams in the UK and to examine how barriers to tram scheme development and implementation might be tackled.

The final report of the Inquiry was published in February 2010.

The Department for Transport has since published a report looking at how the costs of light rail schemes can be reduced. ‘Green Light for Light Rail’, published in September 2011, can be downloaded from the DfT website.
